Born in the beating heart of the Mediterranean Sea, the Cypriot singer-songwriter and producer Choby moved to Hull, England at 18 years old on his path to become an internationally-acclaimed artist. As evident in his music, the artist is eager to fuse the sonic elements of home into his craft, while maintaining his passion to push the boundaries of his art. Choby strives for a truly authentic sound through a congruous blend of heartfelt lyricism, bluesy guitar solos, hard-hitting drum beats and jazzy chords. The artist decontextualises these elements with a unique Mediterranean style that is both new and exciting to audiences all over the world.
Choby released his self-produced debut single “this sucks.” at 17 years old, followed by his first EP “lowkey blue”, in 2021. Later in the year, Choby played his first live session at BBC Introducing Humberside with his band. Choby has since made a name and a fanbase for himself in Hull, playing multiple headline slots at The Sesh (Polar Bear Music Club) and an opening slot at the BBC Introducing Stage for Humber Street Sesh. Having become one of the most promising up-and-coming artists of his scene, Choby started working on his debut LP in 2023. Since, he has released a single, and an accompanying documentary on his creative process.
Earlier this year, Choby released a live EP, “From Hull, With Love” made up of renditions from his debut project. The release was followed by sold out launch gigs in Hull, Leeds, and in his hometown Famagusta. The artist has recently released a brand new single from his upcoming debut album and is gearing up for an even bigger second half of 2024 with his new sound.
