BBC Music Introducing Stage headliner Brodie Milner

We're thrilled to have the BBC Music Introducing Stage returning this year at the festival, inside our venue Social. We're working alongside show host Jericho Keys to bring a stellar lineup of the best up-and-coming artists, buzz and breaking bands from the region and beyond!

This year’s BBC Music Introducing Stage headliner brings Alt-indie pessimism from Northern England. Brodie Milner combines meta-modern lyricism with guitar-driven melodies, channelling influence from the likes of Jack White, Ben Howard, Big Thief, Fontaines D.C, and Bob Dylan.

His debut EP ‘tragicomedy’ received national praise for its darkly comic themes, bold sound, and intelligent commentary, garnering support from Gemma Bradley (BBC Radio 1), Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson (BBC Radio 6), Phil Taggart (formerly BBC Radio 1), Frank Skinner (Absolute Radio), and Alan Raw, Jericho Keys, and Emily Pilbeam (BBC Introducing).

A tour with The Coral followed, alongside headline shows across UK and Ireland. Other gigs include support slots with BC Camplight, Katy J Pearson, and Seafret, and festival appearances at Live at Leeds, Tramlines, and Stockton Calling.

BBC Introducing presenter Jericho Keys said: “I’m absolutely chuffed to bits to be able to give Brodie Milner the headline slot he rightly deserves at this year’s Humber Street Sesh."

“As a songwriter, and a ruddy remarkable one at that, he constantly challenges the status quo by poetically diving headfirst into topics such as British politics and mental health.

“His records are instantly recognisable in the way in which he delivers these carefully crafted observations. It makes you feel it’s possible, and necessary, to dance through the drama.

“That is exactly what BBC Music Introducing is all about and that’s why Brodie is our headliner for 2024.”

Mark Page, Festival Director said: “Brodie is someone we’ve worked with for a number of years at Sesh. Starting out as an East Coast solo artist, this gifted singer-songwriter now has a band full of talent behind him, and is quickly being recognised for his distinct vocals and strong songwriting skills. And deservedly so. The guy’s incredible. We’re delighted that Jericho and his team at BBC Music Introducing York/Humberside have chosen him as their headliner for their stage at this year’s festival.”
